Services Planned

The new Maitland Hospital will offer a broad range of services for the people of the Hunter, delivering more beds and treatment spaces than the existing hospital.

The Service Statement, which outlines the services to be provided by the new Maitland Hospital, has been completed in consultation with on-the-ground experts; the clinicians and service managers at Maitland Hospital. It also reflects current population and projection data, models of care and NSW Health policy.

The Service Statement reflects the long term view of the facility, accommodating the services it will open with and those it will introduce over the following ten year period.  This will allow the hospital to provide for the growing needs of the community both now and into the future.

Existing hospital services provided at Maitland Hospital will transfer to the new hospital once it is completed. In addition to this, the new hospital will also offer a wider range of services for the people of the Hunter.

The key priorities for the delivery of services are:

  • Deliver effective, quality and safe care;
  • Provide care in the most appropriate setting including hospital, community or people’s homes;
  • Make best use of available resources; and
  • Enhance patient, carer and clinician outcomes and experience.
