First Sod Turn at new Maitland Hospital Site

The new Maitland Hospital Development Project has marked a significant milestone with the turning of the first sod officially commencing early works at the Metford site.

The NSW Government has invested $470 million in delivering the new hospital which will be a state-of-the-art facility to meet the growing health service needs for the surrounding communities of the Hunter Valley now and into the future.

On track to open in early 2022, the new hospital will offer a wider range of services with significantly more beds and treatment spaces.

The new Maitland Hospital Project Team were joined by Health Minister Brad Hazzard, Parliamentary Secretary Scot MacDonald MLC, Maitland City Council, Maitland Hospital staff and members of the community to celebrate the event.
