celebrating naidoc week in maitland

The new Maitland Hospital Project team celebrated NAIDOC week with Mindaribba Local Aboriginal Lands Council at Maitland Park in Maitland in July.

Members of the project team including representatives from Hunter New England Local Health District, Health Infrastructure and Multiplex were at the Family Fun Day annual event with a project stall.

Throughout the day, they discussed the project while meeting with locals who had many and varied questions about the project.  There were a constant flow of visitors throughout the day and the feedback received from visitors was very positive.  A highlight of the stall was having Wonnarua artist and designer Saretta Fielding present to discuss local Aboriginal stories and history with the community.

Outside of the new Maitland Hospital stall, kids, family and other members of the community participated in the many interactive games and activities throughout the day.

While the wind proved challenging at times throughout the day, it was enjoyed by all and the NMH project team thanks Mindaribba Local Aboriginal Land Council for including us in the celebrations and congratulates them on a successful event.

Brigette Uren, Saretta Fielding, Tara Dever, Narelle Bromilow and Sarah Guilfoyle meet at the new Maitland
Hospital stand at the 2019 Family Fun Day in Maitland Park.

Brett McFadzien, Jo Osborne and Jeff Wall from Multiplex were at the new Maitland Hospital stand to discuss
