Environmental Impact Statement ExhIbited

The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the new Maitland Hospital underwent exhibition with local residents encouraged to give their feedback.

The community had the opportunity to view  building, public transport and traffic plans, as well as other information to address potential impacts on the local area.

The 2018 Budget committed $23.5 million for construction in addition to an additional $20 million allocation to the project, taking the value from $450 million to $470 million.

Included in the hospital’s design is a new emergency, chemotherapy, mental health services, palliative care, a maternity wing and a special care nursery.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Scot MacDonald MLC was onsite at the Metford construction site for the announcement and was pleased to see progress and additional funding for the project.

This is an important step for the Lower Hunter community and is another step forward for the community in receiving a world class hospital that services their needs now and into the future.

The Service Statement, which outlines the services to be provided by the new facility, will be available on the Hunter New England Health website next week.
