A Wonnarua Welcome

A major milestone was celebrated on a very special night in June when the 75 metre long arbour was lit up to reveal the work of local indigenous artist Saretta Fielding.

Members of the project team were joined by Mindaribba Local Aboriginal Council representatives, Wonnarua Elders, and parents, teachers and students from Metford Primary School to see the façade of the building lit up for the first time.

The arbour welcomes visitors to Wonnarua country and features indigenous symbols and totems that are connected to Country and signals it as a safe place for all members of the community seeking care.

It was a night full of emotion, kindness and warmth, and a moment that all agreed was well worth the wait.
