Enabling Works COMPLETED

The new Maitland Hospital build is one step closer to opening following the completion of Enabling Works on 4 October 2018.

Enabling works are preparations to make a building site ready for construction, a very important step in the hospital build process. Completed items include:

  • Construction of a new entry point to the new Maitland Hospital including a new roundabout on Metford Road and an associated road works and supporting site compound on site
  • Associated water infrastructure upgrade works, from Fieldsend Street to immediately south of the Maitland City Council depot
  • New works for Storm Water, Gas and Low Voltage Street lighting
  • Site fencing, signage and Environmental Control Works.

The contract for enabling works was awarded to Donnelley Constructions and site holding works commenced on 1 November 2017. Collaborative consultation with Maitland City Council was maintained over the period and completion inspections well received.

Following Stage 1 Planning Approval which is expected in November, Early Works on new Maitland Hospital can begin. Early Works will involve site establishment, environmental controls, tree removal, bulk earthworks, internal roads and potentially piling and sub structure works. Main works will commence in 2019.
