SHARE

You are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the Naae-Wanni Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Service (AMIHS). The AMIHS team provides community-based maternity care in pregnancy and the early postnatal period and is involved in community development initiatives that promote a healthy lifestyle. The care is provided in a partnership model by Midwives and Aboriginal Health Education Officer.

There are two key interdependent components of the commission, each with clear intent to provide for cultural safety of Aboriginal families, with potential for additional artworks to be negotiated with the selected artist/s:
1. External entry – potential for one or more landscape elements (eg sculpture/poles) located within the garden area outside the entry to Naae-Wanni office to clearly identify the point of safe entry separate to main arrival and Emergency Department doors
2. Large painting in the Naae-Wanni Waiting Room to celebrate Maitland Aboriginal History, birthing on Country, rich in Songlines, colour and imagery;

This commission completes a curated series of commissioned works at the new Hospital focussed on ‘Collected Memory’ of Country, the existing Maitland Hospital and the new Metford site. Saretta Fielding’s artwork adorns the arbour spanning the main façade of the hospital, under which the Naae-Wanni entry door is located.
